La Traviata

Master director Franco Zeffirelli's breakthrough version of Verdi's classic opera is unlike any other. Instead of a traditional filmed stage performance, Zeffrelli's La Traviata is an exquisitely designed, opulently mounted production made expressly for the movie medium.

Placido Domingo, one of opera's greatest tenors, makes his cinematic debut in this glorious "opera-film" which also marks the first starringrole for renowned soprano, Teresa Stratas. Loyal to verdi's original score, the critically acclaimed Zeffrelli production features the music of the New York Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus under the baton of Met Conductor James Levine

The definitive schore, stirring voices of Domingo and Stratas, and the spectacular visuals of Zeffirelli offer Verdi's tale of ill-fated lovers in a way never before possible.
