My Brother Tom

Their love tore a town apart.A 2-Disc Set.

The sleepy country town of St. Helen is divided by more than the river that runs through it:it's also split along deep lines of class and religion. That simmering undercurrent of tension threatens to explode when seventeen-year-old Catholic Peggy MacGibbon falls in love with Tom Quayle, a young, energetic radical -- and a Protestant.

In this powerful miniseries based on the best-selling novel by James Aldridge, the joy and passion of their innocent teenage love is soon overshadowed by bigoted disapproval. The harshest words come form Peggy's father, Lockie, a drinker tormented by dark secrets.Neighbor Finn McCoil is also resentful of Peggy's affection for the Protestant Tom -- and eager to teach him a painful lesson about stepping outside his class.Tom's father, lawyer Edward Quayle, is drawn into this bitter struggle as well and what began as a harmless love affair turns into the focal point for a violent conflict that will tear a town apart.
