After finally obtaining funding, a ship - the Endurance - and crew, the expedition departs. Just days short of the Antarctic coast the Endurance becomes trapped in the pack ice of the Weddell Sea. All efforts to free it fail, and the crew is forced to wait for warmer weather.

Based on the detailed diaries and first-person accounts of expedition members, Shackleton is the true story of the greatest adventure from the age of polar exploration.
