| Yasujiro Ozu's Tokyo Story is considered by many amongst the finest films of all time. Ozu's influence reached far and wide - a master of understatement (what happens offscreen is as captivating as what happens onscreen) Ozu influenced a generation of filmmakers around the world. (1983), is a two-hour documentary about the Life and Career of Ozu, featuring former assistant Shohei Imamura, critics Donald Richie and Tadao Sato, actors Chishu Ryu, Mariko Okada, Haruko Sugimora, and many others, including a 40-minute Tribute to Ozu featuring reflections from directors Stanley Kwan, Aki Kaurismaki, Claire Denis, Lindsay Anderson, Paul Schrader, Wim Wenders, and Hou Hsiao-hsien, and an essay by David Bordwell, Author of Ozu and the Poetics of Cinema
