Eric Rohmer's fifth film in the Comedies and Proverbs series is a moving look at loneliness in contemporary society. Marie Riviere stars as Delphine, a young secretary in Paris with no vacation plans after her friend cancels at the last minute. Depressed and lonely, she is determined to go away. While vacationing alone, she joins up with a Swedish girl who tries coaxing her out of the blues, but only succeeds in making her feel lonelier, until her destiny suddenly takes on unexpected turn.
