Ultimate Strike Force

High-Tech Battlefield
Nowhere is the power and sophistication of today's technology more evident than one on the modern battlefield. The tank, the sharp edge of the sword of modern land combat, still occupies center stage. Artillery, infantry and air support, most notably the attack helicopter, still provide the muscle. Today's tanks such as the M1 Abrams and the Russian T-80, are faster, more maneuverable, and better armored to withstand the ferocious firepower of current anti-tank missiles, projectiles and bombs. Infantry is more mobile and mechanized, riding into combat in sophisticated armored vehicles. Even with these improvements, the role that combat forces play in land warfare remains as important as ever. It is the battlefield itself that has changed. Information, reliable and real time, has become as important as bullets in modern land warfare.
High-Tech Navy
Modern navies the world over have embraced high-tech information systems as a means of maintaining a decisive edge in global warfare and peacekeeping. Just as the introduction or the Ironclad revolutionized naval warfare more than a century ago, so has today's ability to see ships over the horizon. Instantaneous global communication minimizes the vastness of the oceans. State-of-the-art intelligence systems are coupled with advanced computer-coordinated weapons combined application of these diverse technologies provides the modern navy with unprecedented combat capabilities. However, today's combat vessels are increasingly vulnerable to detection, and hence, destruction, by well-equipped enemy forces. Again, to defend themselves navies employ high-technology counter-measures in the form of radical ship designs, air and space-based reconnaissance and command systems, and powerful M.k. 15 Phalanx anti-missile weapons.
Today's sometime volatile international relationships demand that warships be lethal and virtually invisible, but also, when necessary, they mustbe ready to display their power, and their flag, to deter hostile action before it can happen. In the twenty-first century navies must be versatile. Examine the latest in warship design and naval weapons: stealth ships such as the Sea Shadow, the more conventional U.S. Navy, Aegis cruiser and destroyer, and the European Tri-Partite Frigate. The future of the perhaps fatally vulnerable aircraft carrier is discussed, and the latestsubmarine technology is profiled, as is the arsenal of missiles that threatens today's warships. Revel in the deadly new firepower and complicated technologies of the modern High-Tech Navy.
Fast Strike
Since the end of the Cold War, the United States has remained the only true superpower. When crisis have developed in far corners of the globe, the U.S. has often taken responsibility for dealing with them. International diplomacy has been the first and most important means of maintaining world order. But when diplomacy fails, the fast military strike becomes a powerful option. The conduct of a modern military campaign requires the coordinated efforts of thousands of high-tech warriors backed up by a massive network of support services. Their high-tech F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-117 nighthawk and F-111 Aardvark aircraft are capable of destroying fortified targets with state-of-the-art munitions. Warships, guarded by the Navy's F-14 Tomcats, are able to launch a barrage of GPS-guided weapons to targets hundreds of miles away. Combined, they create the shattering power of a Fast Strike.
Digital Dogfight
"He who controls the skies wins the battle," and, according to air power advocates, that adage will remain true into the 21st Century. There was a time when a pilot had to see his opponent in battle, but today's dogfights take place???? ??????
