Roll On Texas Moon
King Of The Cowboys
Days Of Jesse James
"Days of Jesse James" is from Rogers' earlier, "historical" period.Roy's a railroad detective out to prove that the James Gang are innocent.Joseph Kane directs, George "Gabby" Hayes lends support and Don "Red" Barry plays Jesse James."King of the Cowboys" again directed by Kane, has Roy trying to smash a ring of saboteurs, aided by the Sons Of the Pioneers and Smiley Burnette. With a bigger budget than usual, "King of the Cowboys" played major theatres instead of the Saturday matinee circuit.A different cut was prepared for the Armed Forces, and by combining several source prints, the version presented here runs longer than it did in theatres."Roll On Texas Moon" is the first Roy Rogers picture directed by William Whitney, who shifted the series from musical extravaganzas to out-and-outaction pictures.Gabby Hayes and Dale Evans are also on hand in this tale of ranchers versus sheepherders.
