Guido (Alki David) is a cold-blooded thug who does the dirty work for a small-time Jersey gangster (Gary Busey).
When a deal goes awry, Guido winds up killing everyone involved including the money man he is supposed to be protecting and is then ordered to transport the corpse from Jersey City to Beverly Hills. Before he can set out on this journey, his elderly landlady Maria (Lupe Ontiveros) talks him into taking her along. As the unlikely pair drives across country, hunted by the FBI s Detective Rivers (Armand Assante) and the ruthless killer Sid Shine (Billy Zane), Maria and Guido forge an
unlikely bond; and as the corpses pile up in the trunk of Guido s limousine, Maria forces him to question his notions of forgiveness and faith.
