The tragic and heroic story of the Nez Perce Indians is told in this docu-drama starring James Whitmore and Sam Elliott. In 1877, Chief Joseph out-maneuvered the U.S. Army for 108 days during a fighting retreat. Greatly outnumbered, and crippled by sickness and starvation, the surviving Nez Perce finally surrendered - their great chief uttering the words, "I will fight no more forever." Recommended by the National Education Association. Review from Video Rating Guide Vol. 2 No. 3: Beautifully filmed and well-acted account..occasionally one views a film that is so affecting that it is difficult to get past the emotions evoked to accurately describe them. This is one such film. It must be viewed and experienced to truly appreciate its power. This film is highly recommended for history buffs, students and all those interested in the American Indian's plight through history.
