From the Editor's Desk "Welcome to the Introductory Issue of SubstanceTV. By now, it's no secret that the DVD revolution is in full swing, bringing new and exciting possibilities in high quality video to our homes, computers, even our game consoles. Recognizing that these possibilities extend far beyond simply building a movie collection, we developed the concept of SubstanceTV - a video magazine on DVD. SubstanceTV was created to celebrate the human spirit, to seek that which lies below the surface of mainstream culture, and to gather a world of unique visions and voices into a new community of meaning. And so we began our journey - alongside artists, filmmakers, and our subscribers - through a world of media that examines the art, ideas, and personalities that define our time and place. We've dispatched production crews nationwide to capture compelling and provocative original features, and we're pleased to also showcase contributions from some of today's finest filmmakers, musical acts, and conceptual artists. The SubstanceTV experience doesn't end with the DVD.
