The Inspector General: Danny Kaye stars in this dance, music and laugh filled tale of a tramp who is mistaken for the King's Inspector General, a powerful man who makes certain that towns through out the kingdom are paying their fair share of taxes and tributes. When a corrupt village tries to bribe Kaye, he proceeds with a plan to rob the town dry! This classic story about a young man's journey from skid row to the lap of luxury is a rousing good time and perfect family fare. The Inspector General has a great supporting cast, including Elsa Lancaster (Bride of Frankenstein) and Alan Hale (Robin Hood, and The Skipper's Dad) and was directed by famed Hollywood great Henry Koster (Bishop's Wife, The Robe, Harvey).
The Pied Piper Of Hamelin: Taken from the centuries old tale, this fun filled musical stars screen legend Van Johnson (Last Time I Saw Paris, Purple Rose of Cairo, Caine Mutiny) as the musically minded Piper, Claude Rains (Casablanca) as the penny wise and pound-foolish mayor, and the hilarious Jim Backus (Gilligan's Island, Mr. Magoo) as the conceited and womanizing ruler of the Kingdom. Tons of great songs, terrific lyrical writing, and a wonderful moral lesson make The Pied Piper of Hamelin a very special film for the entire family.
