Legendary French actor, Jean-Louis Trintignant stars as Nicholas, an unassuming bank teller determined to become a business tycoon and bed as many women as possible with the help of his plotting, needy friend, Claude (Jean-Pierre Cassell) in this dark and twisted tale of complicated love and tangled relationships.

Claude, in a wheelchair and desperate for fodder for his next novel, manipulates Nicholas into using his female connections to generate lucrative business deals and, as luck would have it, more female connections that ultimately, allow Claude to live vicariously through Nicholas' sexual exploits. However the plan is threatened by Nicholas' own ineptitude, stubborn pride and eventually the love of a beautiful woman (Romy Schneider).

Upon embarking on a series of courtships with a variety of women and dabbing in questionable business ethics, Nicholas strives to obtain his dream of having it all at the expense of everyone in his life in this romantic yet dark French comedy from internationally acclaimied director, Michel Deville (La Lectrice).
