In the autumn of 1924, the dismissed cunuch Lau Loy-hei lived with Chiu-di to lead a pseudo marriage. They were contented with their lives.
Loy-hei got in touch with the revolutionary party after saving a revolutionist called Jing-chen. On the other hand, Loy-hei's talent in singing Beijing opera was highly appreciated by cunuch Siu-tak-cheung. It sowed the seed of future disaster. When Siu-tak-cheung learned that Loy-hei was acquainted with the revolutionary, he tried to trap Loy-hei. Loy-hei finally swallowed charcoal to destroy his own voice as a revenge to Siu-tak-cheung.
