The Civil War Life Movie Series
Along with several fellow Harvard students, William F. Bartlett joins the Union Army's 20th Massachusetts regiment. In the opening sequence, the "Harvard" regiment suffers a blistering defeat at the Battle of Ball's Bluff.
Scouting the Federal picket line at Yorktown, Barlett's left knee and lower leg are Shot To Pieces by Confederate gunfire. The surgeon amputates from the knee down.
Gaining a wooden leg, Bartlett recuperates at home under the watchful eye of Agnes Pomeroy, a Massachusetts
