Deadly...Demonic...
After being inhabited by a glowing, mutant mosquito, a decaying cadaver is reanimated in its grave and sent on a brutal strangling spree throughout the wilds of Maryland. It seems he's been possessed by a "fiend"-a force of unadulterated evil-and must assimilate the life-essence of human victims to rejuvenate his constantly rotting visage. However, when the bodies begin piling up a cranky neighbor turned amateur sleuth takes it upon himself to find the murderer-but at what cost?
Does anyone else find it amusing that our titular demon buys a house, teaches violin and takes time from gratuitous slaughter to feed his kitty?
Don Dohler (The Alien Factor) has again crafted a backyard genre effort for less cash than most folks spend on a haircut. A deliberately smaller, more intimate work than his sci-fi offerings, Fiend was whipped up in the spring of 1980 as a quick and easy project to recoup money lost after production was halted on the previous year's Nightbeast. Well-acted by an able cast including Dohler regulars Don Leifert (Galaxy Invader) and George Stover (John Water's Female Trouble), this fast-paced horror romp with some downright mean surprises is now primed for DVD rediscovery! -Bruce Holecheck Ultra Violent Magazine
