The court took his freedom...Not his Pride!
Pride is a touching masterpiece vividly portraying the dramatic events of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East, also known as The Tokyo Tribunal; all while interpreting the movement for independence of India from England.
Through the eyes of Hideki Tojo, a Class "A" War Criminal in the Tribunal, we become witness to the lush and tumultuous history of Japan as well as the renowned pride of the Japanese people.
During the war, Tojo created "Senjinkun", a Field Service Code required of all Japanese soldiers. This code served to protect the secrets of the Japanese military by having all Japanese soldiers commit suicide rather than become prisoners of war. Tojo, however, allowed himself to be captured and thrown into the Sugamo Prison. His choice to live was met with public animosity and shame. Taking on a fight encompassing more than just a man, country or many nations; Tojo fought for his name and honor in the tribunal. And more than that, he fought for the honor of his country, Japan.
