In the late 1940s, when television as we know it was just beginning, the producers, directors, and stars were all flying by the seat of their collective pants. From day to day, they were all guessing even the Network executives. But soon, two performers began to stand out from all the rest. They were Milton Berle and Lucille Ball. Lucy went on to star in five TV sitcoms, one of which was The Lucy Show. In these hilarious episodes from that classic series, you'll see what made her TV's monarch of comedy as she romps with the likes of Sheldon Leonard.
The Lucy Show was the third series to which Lucille Ball used to dominate the Monday line-up on CBS. The Lucy Show, like her earlier series, I Love Lucy, ran six fun-filled seasons, and stayed in the Top 10 in the ratings for its entire run.
Episode 1 Lucy's Substitute Secretary Lucy plans a vacation and gets a temporary replacement at work. The pretty substitute quickly has Mr. Mooney wrapped around her little finger. Worried about her job, Lucy dresses up as some strange characters to undermine the new girl.
Episode 2 Lucy the Babysitter After an argument with Mr. Mooney, Lucy goes to an employment agency specializing in unique jobs and gets assigned to baby-sit three chimps.
Episode 3 Lucy Meets Sheldon Leonard Unbeknownst to Lucy, Sheldon Leonard is using the bank to shoot a TV show. Mistaking Sheldon for a robber, Lucy and Mary Jane pose as cleaning women to thwart the crime.
