U-Boats At War: On May 4th, 1945 Donitz issued orders to cease hostilities. "You have fought like lions," he said to his valiant survivors. "You are laying down your arms after a heroic fight which knows no equals." The story of that fight is told here using rare archive footage, much of which has been unavailable in the West since World War II.
Battleships At War: Throughout the war, the battleships were constantly in action as they laid down preliminary barrages to help soften up enemy-held terrain prior to an attack. The noble battleships have earned unquestionable acknowledgement as the concrete foundation of defense against any eventual war.
Aircraft Carriers At War: In an uncertain world, it is the aircraft carrier, not the battleship that holds "pride of place". The aircraft carrier with its ease and rapidity of deployment and capacity to fulfill many roles remains one of the most flexible and potent tools of military intervention ever developed.
Tanks At War: The German pincer movement was finally mounted in early June 1943, but after a week both northern and southern armies were at a standstill. Soviet Packfront tactics - rockets and artillery, backed by tanks and infantry - proved a costly but effective answer to Blitzkrieg. The world's biggest ever tank battle at Prokhorova saw 1,500 tanks on one battlefield - but as the dust settled, it was the Germans who licked their wounds. The action ground on 20 weeks more - but Citadel was doomed, and with it, Hitlerrs chances of remaining in Russia.
