The Complete Series

This includes all seven documentaries made during World War II, using actual newsreel footage, by three Oscar winners: producer-director Frank Capra (It Happened One Night, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, You Can't Take It With You) of the U.S. Army Signal Corps, composer Dimitri Tiomkin (High Noon, The High and the Mighty, The Old Man and the Sea) and actor-narrator Walter Huston (The Treasure of the Sierra Madre).

Prelude To War/The Nazis Strike
The first two films in the series recount the Japanese incursion into Manchuria and the Italian conquest of Ethiopia as Hitler's armies spread like a cancer through the Rhineland, Austria, Czechoslovakia and Poland.

Divide And Conquer/The Battle Of Britain
In documentary footage, Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belgium and France fall to the seemingly invincible German army while, with their indomitable spirit, heroic Londoners endure a six-week blitz by the Luftwaffe.

The Battle Of Russia
Nominated for an Academy Award as Best Documentary, the fifth film in the series celebrates the spirit of the long-suffering Soviet people as they heoically repulse the Nazi invasion threatening their homeland.

The Battle Of China/War Comes To America
Japan's occupation of China is shown, including the rape of Nanking, the great 2,000-mile migration, and the Flying Tigers, while in America, opinion gradually shifts from isolationism to support for entering the war.
