Maneaters and Mankillers

Lions
It seems the "king of beasts" is developing a preference for tender human flesh over the horns and hoofs of its everyday prey. Still, man-eating lions are considered the exception to the rule...which must be a great comfort to the humans who share their domain.

Africa's Giants
Elephants, rhinos, buffalos and hippos may appear to be gentle, mind-mannered vegetarians, but they kill more people in Africa than the better-known man-eaters. Buffalos are believed to enact revenge upon aggressors. Elephants have a good memory and have been persecuted by humans for centuries. Rhinos have poor vision and are blindly aggressive. Hippos have the reputation for taking the most human lives of all mammals.
