Claudio Abbado conducts a program of works inspired by Bizet's great opera, "Carmen," including Rachmaninov's (1873-1943) "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," Sarasate's (1844-1908) "Carmen Fantasy, Op. 25," Ravel's (1975-1937) "Rhapsodie Espanole," de Falla's (1876-1946) "Ritual Fire Dance," and Brahms' (1833-1897) "Hungarian Dance No. 5."
The Berliner Philharmonic: Orfeon Donostiarra de San Sebastian: Sudtiroler Kinderehof performs these musical masterpieces, accompanied by soloists Anne Sofie von Otter, Bryn Terfel, Roberto Alagna, Gil Shaham, and Mikjail Pletney.
