John Denver is remembered as one of the most beloved figures in the history of American popular music. The deceptively simple accompaniments he devised for his many hit songs gave each one a memorable sound that continues to ring in our ears to this day.

Pete Huttlinger, John Denver's long-time lead guitarist, teaches authentic arrangements to eight of the legendary singer's classic songs. His clear explanations make it easy to understand what you need to do to achieve John's trademark sound, and how to use it as a springboard for arranging other songs in your repertoire.

Pete shows, in detailed close-up, the chord progressions, picking patterns and bass runs that made John's guitar arrangements so distinctive. These techniques range from very simple accompaniments that utilize basic folk strums and picking patterns to Travis-style syncopated melody lines against a steady bass. You'll learn chord positions and harmonies that evoke a sound typical of John's music, played on songs such as My Sweet Lady, I'm Sorry, Annie's Song, Late Winter Early Spring, Fly Away, Boy From the Country, Darcy Farrow, and Rocky Mountain High.
