The Yoga Chant captures the heart of the ancient tradition of kirtan (chanting the name of God) which is an integral part of what is known in India as Bhakti or devotional yoga. Now, for the first time on video, you can experience an evening of chanting with Krishna Daas and awaken your spirit to the energy of this transforming and transcendent yoga. Interspersed throughout, Krishna Das discusses the power of chant and its effectiveness as a daily practice.
Krishna Das' chanting is used by yoga teachers and practitioners all over the world as the soundtrack to their practice and teaching of Hatha yoga postures and exercises.
The Yoga of Chant also features new music as well as chants from Krishna Das' catalogue performed live including a new prayer from the Zen Buddhist canon, "Kon Ron Mon (Gate of Sweet Nectar)" which flows into a new version of the "Hanuman Chaleesa."
Krishna Das has been chanting since his days of living in India in the 70's with Neem Karoli Baba. Over the years he has made numerous pilgrimages throughout India, meeting teachers and saints of many spiritual traditions on his quest to open an purify his heart. He has studied Buddhist meditation practices from various lineages and is appointed pujari (priest) for the Durga temple in Neem Karoli Baba's ashram in the foothills of the Himalayas.
Hailed as "The Chant Master of American Yoga" by The New York Times, Krishna Das continues to conduct intensive seminars, workshops and chanting sessions and leads kirtans on a regular basis in yoga and retreat centers throughout the world.
