A Film by Danny Clinch

In Pleasure + Pain, famed rock photographer/director Danny Clinch shows us the Ben Harper millions of fans around the world have come to know and love: a gifted and charismatic young singer/songwriter who plays with an unparalleled sense of passion and melody. Then Clinch digs deeper, using unconventional angles and various film stock to paint an unassuming yet completely mesmerizing portrait of Harper's life both on the road and off.

The film also features concert footage from North America and Europe, including songs such as "Please Bleed," "Steal my Kisses," "The Woman in You," and "Power of the Gospel."

The DVD goes even further, showcasing the emotional depth and musical eclecticism of Harper and his band, The Innocent Criminals (bassist Juan Nelson, drummer Dean Butterworth and percussionist David Leach) with a moving homecoming performance in Claremont, California, soul-stirring collaborations with the Blind Boys of Alabama and even some bootleg tapes of mysterious origins.

All of Ben's critically acclaimed and wildly popular (his worldwide sales are close to six million albums) are represented:

  • Welcome to the Cruel World
  • Fight for Your Mind
  • The Will to Live
  • Burn to Shine
  • Live From Mars
