Bruce Buckingham is a professional musician and teacher. He plays guitar in many styles, but his specialties are jazz, Latin, blues and funk. He is one of the seasoned teachers at Musicians Institute, joining the staff in 1980, teaching literally thousands of students from around the world to play guitar at M.I. He has played and/or recorded with musicians as diverse as Helen Reddy to John Patitucci and has been involved in Michael Jackson's production of Sisterella. Currently he is working on his own recording project as well as more instructional books and videos for guitar.
Bruce demonstrates the essential licks for the chords and progressions common to jazz II-V-I licks, turnaround licks, chromatic bebop lines, licks for altered chords and major and minor vamps and much more. Bruce also illustrates the licks in several styles: swing, bossa nova, samba, swing 16ths, funky fusion and bluesy shuffles. Each lick is played in context, then demonstrated slowly with a full explanation on their proper applications.
