Since his explosion onto the British pop scene in the late '50s, Cliff Richard has charted over 40 years of Top Ten Hits, sold more than 250 million records and received a 1995 knighthood for his worldwide charity work. The Cliff Richard Collection contains his three legendary '60s musicals ( including Wonderful Life, available only in this collection ), all digitally remastered and completely restored from original UK vault materials.
More than four decades later, Cliff Richard remains an international icon as well as Britain's best loved entertainer. And The Cliff Richard Collection presents 'Sir Cliff' at his all-singing, all-dancing movie musical best!
The Young Ones: When aspiring young pop singer Nicky Black (Cliff Richard) learns that his local youth club is to be demolished by his millionaire tycoon father (Robert Morley), he and his friends decide to stage a variety show to buy the lease. But as they begin jamming the airwaves with pirate radio transmissions of Nicky's songs, all of London becomes obsessed with the identity of this 'mystery singer.' Can one big night of singing and dancing now save the day, or will the battle of wits between father and son bring down the house?
Also known as Wonderful To Be Young, this delightful 1961 classic launched the international careers of both Cliff Richard and director Sidney J. Furie (The Ipcress File, Lady Sings the Blues) and remains one of the most beloved British movie musicals of all time. The Young Ones has been restored from original UK archive materials and features Cliff's #1 hits "The Girl in your Arms" and "The Young Ones," as well as The Shadows instrumental smash "The Savage."
Summer Holiday: Garage mechanic Don (Cliff Richard) persuades London Transport to loan him an old double-decker bus, which he and his mates transform into a hotel on wheels for a road trip across Europe. But when a beautiful runaway American pop star stows away on board, the boys are off on an international adventure of singing girl groups, chatty French mimes and even a Yugoslavian bullwhip wedding. It's a singing and dancing race against time as Cliff and company find friends, fun and maybe even love, all on a Summer Holiday!
Upon its release in 1963, Summer Holiday broke all British box office records and sealed Cliff Richard's reputation as England's best-loved entertainer. This delightful musical adventure also marked the film debut of director Peter Yates (Bullitt, Breaking Away), and features Cliff's classic hits "Summer Holiday," " Bachelor Boy," "Dancing Shoes" and "The Next Time", as well as the #1 instrumental smash "Toe Tapper" by his virtuoso backing band The Shadows
Wonderful Life: Cliff Richard & The Shadows are tossed off a cruise ship and wash ashore on the Canary Islands where they stumble onto the set of an old-fashioned desert movie epic. But when Cliff and the leading lady (Susan Hampshire) begin to make beautiful music together, he and the crew conspire to film their own kind of singing and dancing celebration, filled with the wild sounds of youth and the unstoppable magic of the movies. Can Cliff outsmart a stuffy director (Walter Slezak), deliver a hidden-camera masterpiece and still find time for a Wonderful Life of love?
Known as Swinger's Paradise in America, Wonderful Life was Cliff's third straight smash movie musical and features 12 swingin' songs, including his UK classics "On the Beach," "Do You Remember" and "Wonderful Life" as well as 'The Shadows' instrumental hit "Theme For Young Lovers."
