On September 5th and 7th, 2001, an ensemble of superstar artists gathered in New York City to record a new version of "What's Going On," Marvin Gaye's classic call for compassion, healing and love, in order to raise awareness and funds to fight against the scourge of AIDS in Africa.

In the wake of the tragic terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11th, Artists Against Aids Worldwide, realizing the recording's powerful healing message extended beyond the scope of the projects original aim, decided to donate 50% of its proceeds to the United Way's September 11th Fund and 50% to the Aids relief effort, which includes the Global Aids Alliance, among others.

The Making of "What's Going On" brings you into the recording studio and onto the set of the music video with all the artists who came together in the name of AIDS awareness and relief. This DVD includes two alternate broadcast versions of the video, in addition to the popular version airing the world.
