One of the most important leaders in jazz, pianist Count Basie (1904-1984) was instrumental in the evolution of the piano's role in a rhythm section. His big band featured such stellar musicians as Lester Young, Harry Edison and many others.
This truly astounding 1968 footage finds Basie in prime form with his legendary rhythm section . This is a rare find!

Earl "Fatha" Hines (1903-1983) was considered by many to be the first modern pianist, based on his innovative left-hand technique. A truly gifted performer, Hines influenced almost every pianist to come along in his wake.
This phenomenal 1963 broadcast showcase Hines at the top of his game, explaining and playing great standards.

Brought to world attention through his association with the Count Basie Orchestra, vocalist Jimmy Rushing (1903-1972) mesmerized listeners and critics alike with the power of his thundering bluesy voice and swinging feel.
The superlative 1962 footage features the outstanding vocalist Jimmy Rushing, accompanying herself on the piano.

Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong (1904-1921) was unarguable the greatest figure in jazz history. His gruff voice, sweet trumpet sound, irrepressible swing feel, scat singing, and rhythmic phrasing forever changed the way jazz would be played in the future.
In this extraordinary 1963 broadcast, the great jazz prophet Armstrong listens to and comments on his masterpieces from the twenties.

From legendary piano virtuosos Basie and Hines to the vocal brilliance of Rushing and the great Armstrong, this DVD is an integral part of any jazz lover's collection.
