This celebrated masterwork, which is one of Pavarotti's favorites, concludes with the passionate "Libera me, Domine," a piece originally written to memorialize composer Giocchino Rossini. The work, however, was never used and was resurrected by Verdi years later for this Requiem for novelist Alessandro Manzoni.
