Recorded in Naples' Ponticelli sports stadium, Luciano Pavarotti enthralled a live audience with his moving performance of Verdi's "Requiem." This celebrated masterwork, which is one of Pavarotti's favorites, concludes with the passionate "Libera me, Domine," a piece originally written to memorialize composer Giocchino Rossini. The work, however, was never used and was resurrected by Verdi years later for this Requiem for novelist Alessandro Manzoni.
