When planning the video for "Anymore," director Jack Cole conceived the story of a Vietnam veteran and his struggle to come to grips with his disabilities. Filming at the Veterans Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, gave me the opportunity to get to know a number of the exceptional men and women there. From that moment, I was sure that I wanted to continue to be involved with these American heroes. In early 1991 I heard about and offered to bring my show to the DAV National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic. The clinic gives disabled veterans the opportunity to become motivated and gain self-confidence through participation in a variety of exhilarating activities including skiing, wheelchair basketball, scuba diving, and wheelchair self-defense. Performing for the vets, their families, and the dedicated sports and health professionals was a great experience. Sharing their reactions to my songs, especially "Anymore," was satisfying, enriching, and yes... tender. I hope everyone who watches this will get at least a glimpse of the fun, the hard work, and the triumph we all experienced.
