An intimate profile of the life and work of one of the world's greatest stars.

Originally broadcast in the UK, A Life Less Ordinary is an intimate profile of Phil Collins, one of the world's best loved performer/songwriters.

From his stage debut as the Artful Dodger in Oliver! through the release of his new solo album, Testify in 2002: whether as actor, drummer, singer, or composer this documentary explores Phil Collins' multi-faceted career.

As well as his professional work, the program also covers Phil's personal life; and interviews with friends, colleagues, and family members, as well as Phil himself of course, all add up to a remarkably candid portrait of one of pop's most enduring superstars.

Phil was the only artist to perform at both the British and American Live Aid concerts in 1985, flying from London to Philadelphia on a Concorde to do so. He has won 7 Grammy Awards and was nominated for an Oscar for "Against All Odds" in 1984, and again for "Two Hearts" in 1988 but it wasn't until 2001 that he received his Academy Award for "You'll Be In My Heart" from Disney's Tarzan. The program includes hit songs and performance footage, from both his Genesis years and his solo career, plus the music that he has produced for other artists and his own big band compositions, alongside some lesser known songs which are a favorite of his family, friends, and fans. Additionally there is personal home movie archive; clips from "Live Aid", Miami Vice, Buster, the Oscars for Tarzan and Calamity the Cow.

The featured interviews shot exclusively for A Live Less Ordinary are with Phil and his family, Sir George Martin, Ozzy Osbourne, Julie Walters, Bob Hoskins, Sir Bob Geldof, Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Quincy Jones, Babyface and many more.

Songs and performances featured include:
In the Air Tonight
Another Day In Paradise

Easy Lover
You Can't Hurry Love
Groovy Kind of Love
Two Hearts
Against All Odds
Both Sides of the Story
