The Emmy Award-Winning Series Starring Michael Landon
The Premiere Movie: This is the special double length premiere movie that launched the Emmy award-winning program starring Michael Landon, adapted from the famed series of books written by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Seeking a future, homesteader Charles Ingalls (Landon) takes his wife, Caroline (Karen Grassle), and three daughters from their "Little House in the Big Woods" of Wisconsin to make a new start in Kansas.
The Lord Is My Shepherd: Laura (Melissa Gilbert) is afraid the newest addition to the Ingalls family will replace her in Pa's affections, and when the baby boy becomes ill she refuses to pray for the infant, who eventually dies. Overwhelmed with guilt, she runs away to the mountains, where she meets and confides in Jonathan (Ernest Borgnine), a kind-hearted hermit from whom Laura learns an important lesson in family love.
The Collection: The Collection guest-stars country and Western singer Johnny Cash as Caleb Hodgekiss, a down-on-his-luck con man who poses as a minister to take advantage of the good people of Walnut Grove. His real-life wife, June Carter Cash, plays Mattie Hodgekiss, who warns her husband he's going to get in trouble again when he collects donations for the victims of a fire, intending to take them for himself.
Laura Ingalls Wilder: You and your family are cordially invited to a very special wedding as Laura (Melissa Gilbert) becomes Mrs. Almanzo Wilder (Dean Butler) in this two-part episode, written and directed by Michael Landon. Almanzo's sister Eliza Jane (Lucy Lee Flippin) falls for his friend Harve Miller (James Cromwell), while Nellie Oleson (Alison Arngrim) learns that she and Percival Dalton (Steve Tracy) are having a baby.
