Come Downtown with Petula Clark!

Petula Clark, the most successful and beloved female recording artist to hail from England, became America's favorite girl singer in the 1960s, topping the charts with the Grammy Award-winning smash Downtown.

In Petula Clark in Concert - A Sign of the Times, taped for PBS at the Virginia Arts Festival, Petula gives a dazzling performance of her still popular songs, including Downtown, I Know a Place, Don't Sleep In The Subway, A Sign of the Times, Color of My World, Who Am I, Call Me, The Wedding Song and I Couldn't Live Without Your Love. Also included are Look To The Rainbow from Finian's Rainbow, I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables, Tell Me It's Not True from Blood Brothers and a selection of her own remarkable compositions. Lou Rawls joins Petula for a duet of At Last - in addition to a solo rendition of his hit You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - and Richard Carpenter performs the Carpenters' classic For All We Know as well as I Need To Be In Love with Petula.

Extensive archive footage of Petula is also featured (such as The Ed Sullivan Show and a duet with Carol Burnett). A bonus documentary, This Is My Song, offers a wealth of rare material of Petula from movie trailers, newsreels, stage productions, her own television specials and memorable guest appearances on The Dean Martin Show and The Hollywood Palace. Petula's fascinating life in music, from her days as a child star in England through international fame as an adult, is told in her own words and those of friends and colleagues Harry Belafonte, Lynn Redgrave, Andy Williams, Rod McKuen, David Cassidy and others.

NOTE: Concert is presented in widescreen format. Documentary is full screen format.
