This colllection is a fascinating and in-depth look at Jane Austen's life, the world in which she lived and the development of her six novels.

Disc One:
Life
Hear the story of Jane Austen's Life, as we travel to the actual places Jane lived that serve as the settings for her six novels. On this journey, we explore the facts about the woman from her birth to her early death, how she lived and worked, her relationships with family and friends and more. By visiting the Austen's Chawton Cottage home, we gain an extraordinary insight into the personality of the woman and how this particular 18th-century writer became such a phenomenon more than a century later.

Society
The 18th Century was a time of much social and political change. By examining the fascinating period of history in which she lived, Jane Austen's Society considers the author in the context of her time. Find out what a typical day was like: what they ate, what they wore, how they entertained themselves. The changes in English society were wryly and brilliantly reflected in the behaviors of Jane's characters and in her narrations and commentaries, giving Jane Austen's novels a revered place in the world of literature.

Disc 2:
Works
Narrated with excerpts from Jane Austen's Works and her personal letters, we delight in Jane's strong-minded heroines, handsome heroes and rogues and eccentric secondary characters who inhabit her fictional worlds. We also learn how novels were published in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and we travel to the beautiful English countryside which served as the backdrop of her works. With her sparkling wit and charming reflections on the society, Jane Austen has inspired a new generation of fans.
