"Just cause a man ain't got much, don't mean he ain't got nothing to give."
For over 40 years Junction City, Kansas was known as Sin City.Ninth Street, with its notorious stretch of black-owned jazz clubs, bars, and businesses, was known as "The Harlem of Kansas".Catering to the GI's of nearby Fort Riley, Ninth Street was home to winos and priests, club owners and pimps, hookers and cabbies.Holding court over this explosive mix are two resident winos, Bebo and Huddie, who try to maintain the street's traditions and standards in the face of ruthless new muscle trying to move in.
Joining Huddie and Bebo in the attempt to salvage the Street are an activist priest (Martin Sheen), Tippytoe, the owner of the local cab stand (Isaac Hayes), Pop Bottle Ruby (Kaycee Moore), and Momma Butler, the matriarch, played by Queen Bey.Soon old friendships will be tested and all that has been built up is in danger of being swept away.
