Since the blitz above Hiroshima, the atom bomb has threatened all life on the planet, its past and its future. The Christian Churches are only slowly adjusting to the new situation. The various denominations are moving toward one another. Their ultimate goal: the union of all Christians. The Second Vatican Council swung wide the gates and windows of he Catholic Church. It sought a more important role in the modern world without subjugating itself to the spirit of the times.
Once again the world faces new tasks. Global economic power calls for global morality. The over exploitation of nature threatens the environment. Christianity is able to draw from a huge fund of experience and inner confidence. It offers dynamic stability. But wherever it refuses to exercise its liberating power, it becomes an instrument of suppression. Still, this is no reason for resignation. Time and again it seeks after people who are willing to think, ask questions and rise up in their own resurrection.
This series explore the archaeology and origins of Christianity and how it came into the world. Filmed on location in actual historical and biblical sites, this series features many memorable, full-scale dramatic re-creations.
