This extraordinary film is based on the real-life story of Rocky Dennis, a disfigured teenager whose face resembles a bizarre mask. Cher, in her first leading role, is his mother, Rusty. With the help of Rusty's uncompromising love and fierce determination, Rocky overcomes pain, loneliness and prejudice to emerge as an outstanding young man who becomes an inspiration to his classmates and teachers. Directed with disarming candor and sensitivity by Peter Bogdanovich, Mask features incredible performances by Cher and Eric Stolz, along with a powerful score by Bob Seger and other hit artists. It's an unsentimental tribute to the hero hiding inside each of us.
