This Lyon Opera production of Offenbach's operetta, "Les Brigands," transposes the high jinks of Italian mountain bandits to gangland Chicago, complete with trench coats, fedoras and revolvers replacing traditional capes, sombreros and pistols.Louis Erlo and Alain Maratrat's hugely entertaining and theatrical staging is a perfect vehicle for the infectious melodies, scintillating wit and drama of disguises.
