"Searching for Jimi Hendrix" is a documentary feature by D.A. Pennebaker, the director of such classics as "Don't Look Back" with Bob Dylan and "Ziggy Stardust" with David Bowie. This film illustrates Jimi's influence on performers from all genres of music and celebrates his talent as a composer. Through the performances and unique environments of 11 artists who love Jimi Hendrix, the film travels from the sound stage with well-known film composer Mark Isham to the recording studio with Chuck D. of Public Enemy, to the concert stage with singing star Cassandra Wilson and the New York loft of the great performance artist Laurie Anderson. This film takes us through the many genres of music that Jimi remains a part of, and reminds us why his songs have become American standards. Also featuring The Blind Boys of Alabama, Roseanne Cash, Los Illegales, Los Lobos, Charlie Musselwhite, Taylor Dayne, and Neville & Sheena Staples of The Specials.
