Unthinkable, Improbable, Incredible...But It Could Happen Tommorrow!

A South American Marxist named Roberto Assanti (Miguel Fernandes) stages a kidnapping of the President. His demands are high: $100 million in diamonds and safe passage from the country. The President (Hal Holbrook) is held in an armoured truck, impregnable and wired with explosives.

Deputy Secret Service Director Jerry O'Connor (William Shatner) learns that the terrorist has an accomplice, Linda Steiner, whom Assanti has coerced into believing that the U.S. Government was responsible for the murder of her sister in Argentina.

An emergency cabinet meeting is called in Washington and the Vice President (Van Johnson) decides that the ransom should be paid.

Assanti appears to be winning as he and Linda are taken to the airport for protected departure.Racing against time, O'Connor must somehow figure out a way to defuse the bomb and save the President's life.
