An accomplished musician, arranger, lyricist, and vocalist, Mel Torme was already an established veteran of the talk- and variety-show circuit and concert stage when he appeared on the Jazz Casual series.Known for singing songs such as "Comin' Home, Baby" and "(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66," and as a lyricist of Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song," he may be most familiar to American audiences for playing himself on the sitcom, "Night Court." (Air date: May 2, 1964)
