Home is where your dog is.

Heck is no ordinary dog. When he gets lost the day his family travels 2,000 miles in preparation for a move to Australia, 12-year-old Luke is convinced he'll never see his best friend again. But Heck's not about to let 2,000 miles or the town's dogcatcher stand in the way. With only three days to find his young master before a ship takes them away forever, Heck is caught by the dogcatcher and escapes to experience the greatest adventure of his life.Leaping aboard the moving van at the last possible second, Heck hitches a ride to the train station, where he hops on a freight car with a friendly hobo. When they miss the train at a rest stop, the unlikely pair begins traveling on foot through the bitter cold and dense forest.

But when Heck falls 100 feet into churning rapids, he's on this own.Hungry and with his love for Luke leading him on, Heck battles rattlesnakes, faces rainstorms, and climbs the snow-covered Rockies on his way home.Filled with action-packed excitement, Heck's Way Home is a reminder of what we can do for the ones we love.
