A Classic Story Of Comedy And Suspense

Oscar Wilde's tale of action, comedy, magic and suspense comes to the screen in this classic film, featuring a distinguished cast, including Ian Richardson (House of Cards) as Sir Simon de Canterville.

American millionaire Hiram B. Otis (Rolf Saxon) and his wife, Lucretia (Celia Imrie), move into the historic and imposing Canterville Chase, which comes complete with its very own eccentric ghost -- Sir Simon de Canterville -- who is determined to drive them out.He wrecks their first dinner party by creating mayhem and by terrifying honoured guest Lord Dumbleton (Sir Donald Sinden).

To get rid of the ghost, the family enlist the help of a fake French medium (Pauline Quirke, The Sculptress), a psychic investigator (Ian McNeice, The Englishman Who Went Up A Hill But Came Down A Mountain) and when all else fails, a lunatic vicar (Rik Mayall, Drop Dead Fred, The New Statesman). The hilarious battle between Sir Simon and the Otis clan builds to a thrilling climax when the Otis' teenage daughter, Virginia (Sarah-Jane Potts, The Locksmith), steps in to save the day.
