Hands Across The Border - Billy the Kid Returns

Volume Two of our Roy Rogers series features the King Of The Cowboys in Billy the Kid Returns (1938) and Hands Across The Border (1943), both directed by Joe Kane.

Billy The Kid Returns, one of Roy's earliest pictures, fills its short runnig time with seven songs and plenty of action. After being mistaken for the recently-slain outlaw, Rogers is appointed a special deputy and goes undercover to help prevent a range war between settlers and cattlement. His sidekick is Smiley Brunette, the girl is Mary Hart and, of course, Trigger is on hand.

Republic's expanded budget for Hands Across the Border resulted in a longer running time, two production numbers and a great supporting cast. This time around, Roy helps Terry solve the murder of her rancher father , ending with Roy and Trigger in a climactic horse race.

Like many Republic films, Hands Across the Border was edited for TV and the excess footage was thrown out. The only complete print known to exist was transferred for this DVD.
