If the Law Won't Take Care of Jesse's Murderer, I Will - or My Name's Not Frank James!

With that pledge in his heart, the fabled Missouri outlaw (Henry Fonda) straps on his six-shooters and rides out for revenge in director Fritz Lang's The Return Of Frank James. The thrilling 1940 sequel to the western classic Jesse James.

Young Jesse James - "The Robin Hood Of The Ozarks" - has met a brutal end at the hand of Bob Ford (John Carradine), who waited until Jesse's back was turned to shoot. Even the locals are shocked when Ford and his brother Charlie (Charles Tannen) receive a governor's pardon and reward money, rather than the hangman's noose. But for the Fords, there's still the danger of "lead poisoning": from the green Missouri hills to the rugged Rockies their steps are dogged by Frank James, riding hard on the vengeance trail in the wild and woolly era when there was no law for folks except at the end of a gun!
