big brother is watching.

Orwell's cautionary vision of a dark, totalitarian future where love is forbidden comes to the screen in a strong feature, with excellent performances by John Hurt and Richard Burton in his final film role. Though the events described by Orwell did not come to pass in the real 1984, when the film was made, Orwell's 1949 prophetic nightmarish vision of the future is more relevant today than ever. Powerful new reasons, tools and rules are being used today to exercise greater control and manipulation of citizenry, and also - for those who are capable of imposing it - of foreign governments, institutions and individuals globally, in order to bring about and maintain a system of control
