This rousing adventure is the Civil War story of two brothers who join opposing sides of their conflict.Ronald Reagan, former US President, is Vance Britton, the commander of a troop of Confederates plundering Union gold shipments and wreaking havoc on the settlers of the Santa Fe Trail.Bruce Bennet is Jeb Briton, the commander of the Union forces sent to the frontier to seek out and destroy this Confederate menace, unaware it is his brother who is the target.Rhonda Fleming is the red haired green eyed beauty who is abandoned at the altar when Vance cannot admit to her his allegiance to the Confederacy. In an attempt to heal her broken heart, she too moves Westward in the arms of another man. When Vance, his brother, and former lover are unexpectedly united on the frontier, sparks fly, and they reluctantly put aside their differences to try and save a small town from the rampaging Apache Indians.

Shot on location in the Arizona high country, this was Reagan's first Western. When the producers agreed to let him use his own horse, Tarbaby, in the filming, he was eager to jump into the saddle.
