Lucky O'Donnell Is Coming Home, 88 Days Before His Scheduled Release.

Hard Luck tells the story of Trevor "Lucky" O'Donnell, an explosive yet charismatic mental patient who escapes 88 days before his scheduled release after seven years in a State Mental Hospital. Lucky's childhood sweetheart, Sheryl, visits him at the hospital to tell him that his best friend Eric, her brother, doesn't have much longer to live. He is dying of cancer. Without much thought, Lucky escapes from the hospital and arrives back in his hometown of Gold Beach, Oregon in a stolen car. There he finds a despaired Eric lying in a hospital room waiting to die. Lucky convinces him to go on one more journey to the island where they spent the best summers of their lives together. They pick up a reluctant Sheryl after knocking out her cop husband, Matt. As they hit the road they are followed by Sheryl and Eric's father, Gold Beach Chief of Police, Lou Billings accompanied by her husband Matt. In a desperate attempt to make it to the island, they rediscover their friendship and passion while confronted by the immense realization that their time together is running out - forever.
