In a time of prosperity and whole, happy families, Jeanne Holman (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) and her two sons Tom & Gunny (Joseph Mazzello and Seth Mumy) are different.Jeanne's husband is missing in the Korean War and without him they are doing the best they can.But one day while driving with her children, Jeanne runs into a drifter (Jack McCloud (Swayze), an event that will change their lives forever.
