When the passion dies, a new life begins

Gerard Depardieu directs and stars in this powerful story about the consequences of adultery upon a marriage.Set in a small provincial French town in the 1960s, the film follows an unemployed bulider (Depardieu) who goes to work on the construction of a new bridge.While he is away at work, his beautiful wife ( Carole Bouquet) meets a man (Charles Berling) at one of the afternoon matinees that she frequents.It turns out that he is the engineer associated with her husband's new job.The two embark on an intense and uncontrollable affair that destroys her amrriage.
